Meet Becky Mintz

At age 44 Becky had a double massive heart attack that damaged her heart so significantly she needed a left ventricular assist device (LVAD) to keep her alive.

After 3 months with her LVAD she was placed on the transplant list and 11 days later she received the gift of life.  Her donor, she would find out later, was an 18 year old young man named Eddie.  Fortunately he made his wishes known to his family about wanting to become an organ donor, and they honored those wishes.

Becky and her donor family had the unique opportunity to meet on their second anniversary.  They have maintained a special relationship ever since.  Post heart transplant, Becky has been active in the mission of promoting organ, eye, and tissue registration and education.  She has participated in the Transplant Games of America twice and her wish is to be able to continue participating in the years to come.
